40 percent of the shoes are from Konya | 23.03.2022
Konya is among the important shoe production centers. Saying that 40 percent of the shoes exported and offered to the domestic market are produced in Konya, President Muhammet Acar said, "Without Konya, Turkey would be incomplete."
In Konya, shoes are produced for both the domestic and foreign markets. Saying that Konya is the first in shoe production, President of Konya Chamber of Shoemakers, Muhammet Acar, "We have a sector group that is among the first two in Turkey. As a metropolitan city, the first of these is Istanbul. Even the production center of brand shoes in Turkey and even in certain regions of the world is Konya Aykent Shoemakers Industry. Konya is the leader in shoes and Konya is the heart of shoes.
40 PERCENT OF SHOES ARE MANUFACTURED IN KONYA
Muhammet Acar, who stated that Konya has a great importance in shoe production, said, “40% of the shoes produced in Turkey are produced in Konya. This is a very important figure. Consider in a process where Turkey's export volume is 7.9 billion, that 40 percent of it is produced in Konya, then significant figures emerge. We have the Russia-Ukraine War on our agenda. This war partially affects exports, but our market is not only these regions. It has not stopped our production and exports. Currently, we have more than 30 exports around the world. We export shoes to all European Union Countries that we can count. Besides, there are Middle East Countries, Turkic Republics, Arab countries. We export to these countries, from Algeria to Palestine, from Jordan to Qatar. Of course, there were also partial exports to the Russian and Ukrainian markets. Although there is a stagnation at the moment, exports will continue with the end of the war,'' he said.
KONYA WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE WORLD
President Muhammet Acar, who stated that they are involved in activities that will introduce the shoe production in Konya to the world, said, “The world knows that the shoes produced in Turkey are beneficial to health and that they do not cause disease and do not produce carcinogenic substances. We thought that this should be advertised in the domestic and foreign markets. We have been working on this issue for the past month. Together with the professional team, we are shooting a promotional film that can be explained to the world, about the Konya shoe industry, the production, quality and capacity of Konya manufacturers. This promotional film will be broadcast in 4 languages. We will introduce and announce to the whole world that Konya has a shoe heart. It will also be published at fairs in Italy and Germany. We have meetings in African countries, especially at the level of ambassadors. We had a meeting with the Ghana government spokesperson at the government spokesperson level. They stated that they will publish our promotional film in their country and that they will promote the Konya Shoemakers Sector”.
LEATHER SHOES ARE EXPENSIVE BUT NOT AS THE HOSPITAL FEES
Noting that the shoe production in China is imitation and is harmful to foot health, Acar said, “Since we are a foreign-dependent country, if raw material prices increase, our prices unfortunately increase. We produce shoes that are beneficial to foot health from leather. The shoes produced in Konya are not nylon, imitation and artificial like the shoes produced in China and delivered to us. The purchase of shoes from China has decreased by 90 percent. Our productions are entirely made of leather. I especially recommend consumers to choose shoes that are beneficial for foot health rather than their model and ostentatiousness. Because leather shoes are expensive but not as expensive as hospital fees. Currently, almost all of the shoes sold and exported to the world are shoes made of artificial leather, which are harmful to foot health."
WE HAVE EMPLOYMENT STRESS
Mentioning that there is a shortage of personnel to be trained in the shoe industry, Muhammet Acar said, “The most important problem in the shoe industry is the shortage of qualified personnel. Due to this 12-year uninterrupted education, we have a shortage of personnel to train. But recently, the Ministry of National Education and İŞKUR have had certain studies. He concluded his words by saying, "We hope that if the system is established, the students who are registered in vocational high schools, especially in apprenticeship schools, will get a high school diploma on the condition that they go to school 1 day a week, and if the system that will come to the workplace five days a week and go to school in one day is established, our intermediate staff problem will be solved."
